Born in Redruth in 1958, I did a foundation year at Plymouth School of Art from 1976 to 1977.
I got a place at Cardiff to do a BA in Fine Art but dropped out after a short time and instead went to Oxford Poly to study History of Art and English Literature, followed by a MA and PhD at the Courtauld Institute, London. On completion of these academic studies I decided that I missed painting and Cornwall so I returned in 1986 and have been living and working in St Ives ever since.
