Jill was born in London and studied Fine Art at Ravensbourne College before completing her PGCE at Swansea College of Art.
A member of the St. Ives Society, Jill exhibits both locally and nationally. Her work has been shown in the RA Summer Show, with the Royal Society of British Artists, the Pastel Society, the RWA Open and the Discerning Eye exhibitions (Landscape Prize, 2020) amongst others.
The magic of the West Penwith peninsula, it’s landscape, light, history and geological wonders has, for the last ten years, been a significant source of inspiration for her work. Jill draws and sometimes paints ‘en plein air’ and in the studio seeks a kind of alchemy between her drawings, place, light, pigment and memory. Ambiguous marks, colour and the wonders of oil paint can suggest moments of light and time. The exquisite balance between figuration and abstraction is a perpetual and intriguing quest, providing Jill with endless painterly possibilities.
