Jane has a BA Hons degree in Ceramics at Bath Academy, and works from home in her studio in the West Country.
Most of her work is oxidised stoneware and constructed by coiling, using a rich language of glazes that she has developed over the years. Her pot shapes and use of glaze are inspired by a variety of influences – in recent years she has become increasingly interested in the work of Emile Galle and the Ecole de Nancy on visits to Paris. Roman, Pueblo Indian and Arabic pots still influence her work, as cultural echoes from her early childhood, spent in Baghdad.
Jane became a full member of The Penwith Society of Arts in St. Ives in March 2013 and regularly shows her work in the Members’ Exhibitions at Penwith Gallery. She is also a member of the Westcountry Potters Association.
