Born and bought up on the Cornish coast, Julia has always had a love of design. With the encouragement of her Husband and daughters, she returned to study a Foundation in Art and Design at Falmouth University as a mature student. Initially, she thought she would become a printmaker, spending the majority of her time in the print rooms. Her work progressed from printing, to embossing paper, and then to embossing into porcelain, and her love of ceramics was born. Following on from her Foundation course she attending Truro College and an intensive throwing course with Jack Doherty at the Newlyn Art school.
Now, working from her garden studio, Julia hand makes and hand decorates, porcelain and stoneware mugs, jugs and bowls, together with small sculptural pieces, inspired by her countryside surroundings.
